Hazim Arafeh is the Business Manager Agronomist for Seed and Field (Lower North Island and Upper South Island Unit), with various operational responsibilities. Was born in 1972 and grew up in Saudi Arabia, finished his primary education, then relocated with his family to reside in Jordan permanently in 1984. Graduated with a bachelor degree with honors in Agriculture – from University of Jordan and worked as an agronomist, landscape architect, and nursery supervisor for prominent companies and projects in Jordan.

Currently Hazim lives in Palmerston North with his young family since 2006, before that he lived in Auckland/Pukekohe for 3 years since he immigrated to NZ in 2003. He has two high school sons, who are actively involved in different activities within the local community and the masjid. When not working, Hazim enjoys the quality time he spends with his family and friends, plays social football games that occur on weekends, and an executive member of the ETHKICK committee, which organizes the annual tournament in Palmerston North. He is an executive member of the Manawatu Multicultural Council, which helps connect newcomers to different ethnic groups in Palmerston North. Hazim has been an active member of Manawatu Muslim Association since 2006, and in 2011 he became MMA president until present. He also was a teacher at Sunday school at Manawatu Masjid for few years, provided series of presentations of Prophet Mohammad (SAW) SEERA, and the most important historical events that made the Islamic history. His presentations were held both at Massey Masjid and the city masjid. Hazim has a regular presence in the weekly HALAQA for Quran TAFSEER at the masjid. He is involved in multi-cultural sports, functions, and activities locally and nationally. His main focus is always been youth and their involvement within the larger communities specifically their interests, worries, faith, and issues. Under Hazim’s leadership, MMA’s community of different ethnical groups united and became as one large united community. In addition, few projects had been progressed significantly (like JANAZA project), MMA’s website, face book’s page, and free texting. This insured instant information flow to the wider community and improved the flow of community’s feedback.
