Our Certification Requirements
Meat & Meat Products derived from Halal Species
All slaughter must be performed by qualified Muslim slaughtermen following Islamic (Shariah) guidelines, with proper handling and separation from non-Halal products.
Ingredient Compliance
Products must be free from pork, alcohol and any non-Halal ingredients, with strict controls to prevent cross-contamination. Ethyl Alcohol (Ethanol) limits as per Halal Standards
Halal Production Practices
Facilities must maintain clean, segregated processes, use approved inputs, and ensure traceability across the supply chain.
Audits & Documentation
Businesses must provide full ingredient lists, process information, and undergo FIANZ Halal audits to verify compliance.
International & Government Standards
Certified facilities must meet both FIANZ Halal standards and New Zealand MPI requirements (for export), aligned with applicable global Halal standards (GSO/UAE, OIC/SMIIC, Malaysian and Indonesian standards).
Our Certification Process
Easy and Efficient 3 Stage Process
Online Application & Agreement
- Check Halal Readiness
- Complete the Online Halal Application Form relevant to your business type and submit it to FIANZ Halal.
- Our team will conduct an Application Review to verify completeness and eligibility.
- Once confirmed, we will prepare your Certification Proposal and Service Agreement for your consideration.
- Upon acceptance of the agreement, we will initiate the certification process.
Audit & Corrective Actions (if required)
We will schedule and coordinate the audit in accordance with our established procedures.
Step 1: Planning & Document Review
- Conducted either on-site or off-site.
- May include ingredient verification, process review, and product testing (where required).
- Audit findings will highlight any non-conformities or potential Halal risks that need to be addressed.
Step 2: On-Site Verification
- A formal site inspection will be scheduled, and your team will be notified in advance.
- Our Auditor will assess your Site, Products, and Processes, and record all observations in the Audit Report.
- If any non-conformances are identified, you will be requested to implement corrective actions and submit a Corrective Action Report (CAR) for re-evaluation.
- An updated Audit Report will then be prepared by the Technical Auditor and reviewed by the Halal Islamic Affairs Expert (Shariah Auditor), incorporating Product, Process, Site, Scientific, and Shariah considerations.
Certification Decision & Issuance
- The Technical Manager/ Halal Operations Manager will review the complete audit file for certification purposes.
- The Certification Decision Committee comprising of One Technical Expert & two halal Islamic Affairs Expert will make the final determination.
- If approved, a Halal Certificate will be issued with a defined validity period.
- FIANZ Halal will conduct periodic /Surveillance / Recertification Audit as outlined in the agreement to ensure ongoing compliance and certificate validity
